A Newbie Guide To NFC And How It Can Be Used In Nokia Mobiles

The arrival of new technology always excites us . Though NFC has been out for a while now with Nokia being the major manufacturer integrating NFC chip in its mobiles ,but over the time NFC enable mobiles have increased with Samsung and Blackberry is also catching up. Some people may think it’s a replacement for bluetooth , but hey it’s entirely different technology and works alongside bluetooth. To put up in layman words NFC enables secure communication with two NFC enabled mobiles for eg between your Nokia 700 and Nokia 701.

To put in more technical terms,NFC, short for Near Field Communication, is a short range wireless RFID technology that makes use of interacting electromagnetic radio fields instead of the typical direct radio transmissions used by technologies such as Bluetooth. It is meant for applications where a physical touch, or close to it, is required in order to maintain security.

So what NFC technology does is two NFC enabled mobiles can exchange data in  much secure way. Bluetooth ,Wifi and IR are other  wireless technology that are available in mobiles but they are not secured . NFC is secured way of data transmission ,so you can make mobile payments using it. Apps providers have also reliazed the same and Paypal have integrated the same ,so by just push of a button you will be able to make payments to your client having NFC enabled mobile (Read more Paypal and NFC ). There is no denying to this that NFC will take mobile payment to new level and much easier.

So if you are planning to buy any symbian mobile which has NFC chip ,such as the new ones Nokia 700 ,701  ,you are up for loads of things that can be done with NFC mobiles. Some of them for which applications are available or people are working on it are :

  • Touch and Go
    Applications such as access control or transport/event ticketing, where the user only needs to bring the device storing the ticket or access code close to the reader. Also, for simple data capture applications, such as picking up an Internet URL from a smart label on a poster.
  • Touch and Confirm
    Applications such as mobile payment where the user has to confirm the interaction by entering a password or just accepting the transaction.
  • Touch and Connect
    Linking two NFC-enabled devices to enable peer to peer transfer of data such as downloading music, exchanging images or synchronizing address books.
  • Touch and Explore
    NFC devices may offer more than one possible function. The consumer will be able to explore a device’s capabilities to find out which functionalities and services are offered
