Low cost tablet in India

This has to be great news to all tech enthusiasts who have been purchasing Amazon tablet from USA and importing it here . The awesome news is that Amazon Kindle is now available online in India too through various Croma Stores.

We have  our Government speaking about Aakash tablet and its updated version  but they need to have look at Kindle Tablet and great benefits it can have for education purpose.The device – earlier generation non-touch e-reader – will be available at the Chroma retail outlets across the country at a price of Rs 6,999. Kindle Store for India will have over a million books and accept payment in Indian Rupee.

Sometimes i fail to understand our love to get the cheapest solution in market. We were the one to get Nano and we were the one to get cheapest tablet . The makers and Government tried to pitch the cheapest tablet pc as a excellence of Indian engineering. The media as usual went gaga about it. Little did anyone realize ,that manufacturing base of Aakash tablet is still somewhere in China .Our Government was just a trader  who has further power to bring down the cost by increasing the quantity and also not paying the customs.

It seems Beetel Teletech  has decided to launch series of Tablets in India. The latest one from them is the Betel Magic Glide. The major difference in this tablet is the inclusion of capacitative screen this time.

While unveiling the product, Mr. Vinod Sawhny–executive director and CEO, BeetelTeletech Limited, said, ”The Magiq Glide is the latest addition to our successful Magiq range of tablets, which has been highly appreciated by the Indian consumers. After an extensive market research and keeping in mind the feedback received from our customers on our previous products we have come up with the Magiq Glide. The new tablet has all the features available in our previous products, which our customers liked and additionally we have added a capacitive touch screen to enrich the touch experience.”

The earlier Tablets Magiq and Magiq11  were with resistive screen and supported around 800 Mghz. The latest one is claimed to be 1Ghz processor though the processor name is yet not disclosed. I don’t understand why Indian brands don’t reveal the exact tech specs. It may  be that the specs are not that strong enough to be revealed. However we have following details being revealed by Beetel.
